Muscular System Illustraion Showing Tissues

DEEP TISSUE/ TRIGGER POINT THERAPY

Deep Tissue massage is a type of massage therapy that focuses on the connective tissues, facsia and on realigning deeper layers of muscle tissue.

It is especially helpful for chronically tense and contracted areas such as upper and lower back, neck and shoulders, or anywhere on the body where you may be suffering from acute to chronic pain.

During the massage, different techniques and modalities are utilized such as hot towels; to relax the muscles before the treament, trigger point therapy to pinpoint any areas that may be causing pain and discomfort or some cupping therapy to encourage more blood and oxygen to flow to an area that may be congested.

This massage can be a relaxing and very soothing experience, however, you may or may not experience soreness and discomfort during and a few days after the treatment.

About

My name is Karen Joseph, and I am a certified massage therapist with over two decades of experience and 500+ hours of training in massage therapy from Ocean County, New Jersey, USA. I have worked in the health and beauty industry in various locations worldwide, including New Jersey, California, Italy, and St. Maarten, providing services in salons, day spas, five-star hotels, corporate offices, and in collaboration with chiropractors and physical therapists.

Since 2017, I have been living and working in The Hague, where I work at Massage Sense in the Zeeheldenkwartier. This practice has helped me grow as a therapist and allowed me to meet and work with amazing clients and therapists. In March 2020, I fulfilled my long-time dream of opening my own business in The Hague.

My area of expertise is in Trigger Point Therapy, a technique I have found to be highly effective in providing gradual or immediate relief to clients with pain or discomfort. Additionally, I specialize in pregnancy massage post and prenatal and pelvic floor massage, helping women overcome any pelvic floor pain or dysfunction they may be experiencing.

As a therapist and business owner, I remain up to date with the latest techniques to ensure that I provide the best possible treatments and results for my clients. My mission is to treat, advise, guide, and teach my clients how to maintain a healthy lifestyle for their physical well-being.

I am registered with the Chambers of Commerce (KVK) under #70145334.

FAQs

How often should I get a massage?

Generally, I would recommend having a massage treatment every 4-6 week as a preventive care measure for your overall well-being.

If you have a particular issue or are experiencing pain and discomfort, I would recommend 1 appointment per week for at least 3 weeks. If by then the problem is resolved and you are feeling some relief you can then spread it out to 1 appointment every 2 -3 weeks and then every 4-6 weeks as a preventative care measure. This is just a generalization based on an acute issue. Chronic issues tend to need more time to completly resolve or get to a place where the pain and discomfort is manageable.

This varies from client to client. This is just my basic reccommendation for a treatment protocol*

Can my massage treatment be covered by my insurance?

Yes and no. I do NOT work with any insurance companies. However, I do have some clients who have international and local insurances that are successful with getting their massage treatments covered with an invoice of your massage treatment, and a doctor's note recommending massage therapy treatments. Unfortunately, I can NOT guarantee coverage. This decision is solely up to your insurance company.
